Ion Riva
Ion
Without a soul, is it a place?
Ion brings together people who believe that places gain meaning through the relationships they hold - between land and community, culture and everyday life. Ion is creating neighbourhoods where these relationships are strengthened and where long-term living is shaped by nature as much as design.

Ion Riva
ION Riva is ION’s first neighbourhood, lies on the northern edge of Istanbul in the Riva region. Designed for 3,000 residents, the first phase of ION Riva brings together small neighbourhood clusters, 100,000 m² of biodiverse green space and a new school, alongside cultural, retail, hospitality and wellness spaces. The masterplan is structured around four key cultural buildings that shape the character of the neighbourhood: the Ring, the Lantern, the Drop and the Light House.

Cultural infrastructure
Statement architecture that brings nature, culture and creativity to the heart of the community – three buildings that embody the Ion Riva ethos.
The Drop
Perched above the Black Sea, nature and design meet in The Drop. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and fashioned from native basalt and timber, The Drop offers a focal point for gastronomy, socialising and wellness deeply rooted in its coastal setting.
The Ring
Almost floating within the valley to the east is The Ring, designed by Snøhetta. Spanning the valley in a perfect circle, The Ring delivers a model of sustainable living, from the wellness practices of its its Longevity Center to its light-touch architecture.
The Lantern
The Lantern, designed by MVRDV, is a beacon for arts and culture standing on the site’s highest point, welcoming guests from the neighbourhood, the city and further afield to a diverse programme of performance, exhibitions and events.
